Assist vulnerable individuals and families
Our immediate Intervention Social Safety Net Programme is to assist vulnerable individuals and families to cope with social and economic issues that arise out of the present coronavirus epidemic in Sri Lanka. Given the vast number of civil society organisations that exist in Sri Lanka, this net brings them together as a consortium to work together to develop and implement a social safety net program to reach out and assist the vulnerable people who include the poor, the disabled, those who might not have fancy income due to loss of their income sources due to the present situation' etc.

consortium for social solidarity  (CFSS)
Purpose and Objective:
The objective of the proposed network is to reach out to families and individuals who are unable to cope with the growing economic and social pressures arising as a result of the epidemic and its adverse impacts.
The purpose of the proposed intervention is to establish an island wide network of social support to be delivered through CBO's at DS. and GN levels. These will be coordinated at district, provincial and national levels.
Strategy:
Given the increasing difficulties of travel and mobility due to the epidemic, our strategy is to reach out the grassroots to work through a network of CBO's and CSO's at community and other levels. We will also work in collaboration with government and corporate sector organisations such as supermarket chains. The supplies needed by the beneficiaries shall be derived from local sources to minimise travel and transport.
